The Long Jetty at Pt Welshpool which has been closed for about 3 years. This is where we are hoping to build the Underwater Observatory.

Port Welshpool is part of Corner Inlet has a working marina and Jetty with vessels from fishing boats, yachts of all shapes and sizes. Boats from all over Australia moor there while passing through the area or in rough seas, it can be a safe haven from the treacherous seas of Bass Strait.

Fisherman from the local area base themselves at Port Welshpool and send their catch to the markets in Melbourne.

Locals and Tourist have a boat ramp in wich to launch their boats for their recreational use. Its a very popular place especially at Easter and Christmas holidays.

Port Welshpool is a beautiful part of the Prom Coast, and definately worth a visit.

There is a move to build an Underwater Observatory on the Historical Long Jetty which will if goes ahead enhance the area for tourists. More info on this can be found on this website

Pt. Welshpool has also a historical museum which has lots of artifacts and history of the old sea faring days in and around Pt. Welshpool.
There are lots of important items of historical significance, one is a diary which has been preserved on A3 paper and is one persons account of his time in Port, which goes back many years and is full of information about life at that time. A must see and read.

Pt Welshpool has a general store two caravan parks and a hotel as well as the port and is a very popular tourist destination.

 

Pt Welshpool is home to the Sea Days Festival, which is an integral part of the 'Prom Coast Summer Festival
